Lukas Flueckiger Scores Podium at World Cup Finals for Trek World Racing the Flueckiger brothers once again had top 10 results yesterday at Round 7 of the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup here in Val Di Sole, Italy in very warm conditions on a steep track that was almost entirely climbing or descending. Luk had a great race, always in touch with the top 5, and his legs were the strongest of the chase group on the final lap eventually taking his first World Cup podium of the year. His brother Math also had a great ride moving up through the top 10 to take a well-deserved 7th place For both brothers it's been a World Cup season of two halves. The first half up to Offenburg (GER) was extremely frustrating with mixed results and disappointing speed. However both riders worked hard on reviewing their training programs and their mental approach, and now find themselves where they need to be. The second half of the season sees them clearly as 2 of the best 10 riders in XC racing, which augurs well for the World Championships coming up in 2 weeks. Trek World Racing Luk said: "I'm really relieved and happy with this podium result. My coach Bruno (Diethlem) deserves a lot of credit for getting me back on track. My legs felt so great on the last lap, and even with the heat, I felt very comfortable today. Math was also riding great, even though he may have looked tired towards the end, and he's such a fighter and never slowed down. I'm happy for both of us and the team." Math said: "That is a good result for me, every day the legs feel stronger and stronger. I really like this track and had a much better start. I felt I could always go with the chase group today and that is a good feeling for me. I had a small mistake with the gear changing, had to get off the bike and put the chain back on, but it wasn't anything major, I was able to get back onto the group and work hard to the finish. Luk's legs on the last lap were the strongest and he looked really amazing at the finish." Trek World Racing
